Troubleshooting
The footer says what is wrong in one of a few words; the runner panel and the words beside a Run button say what to do.
| The footer reads | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| No runner | this browser has never been connected | install the runner, then start it with --open |
| Runner starting… | the page is waiting for the daemon's first answer | nothing; it takes a second |
| Runner stopped | nothing answers at the remembered address | start the daemon again in a terminal; the page reconnects by itself |
| Runner refused the token | the daemon runs with a different token than the page remembers | open the link the daemon printed, or paste it under Install or connect |
| Runner outdated | the daemon is older than this studio can drive | install the current release and start it again |
| Runner updating… | an update is being downloaded and verified | wait; the page reports the new version |
A tool is marked unavailable
The runner panel lists each tool with its state. unavailable names what is missing on the machine:
- MuSiCal, SigMA2:
uvis not installed. Install it from docs.astral.sh/uv and start the daemon again. - Tau:
pixiis not installed. Install it from pixi.sh. - MuTopia: neither Docker nor Podman answers.
- SigMA2 simulate:
bedtoolsis not on the path.
A run failed
Open its log (the log toggle on the row). The last lines are the package's own error. The run's folder in the workspace keeps the log as daemon.log and the job's record as job.json.
The daemon's own log
Show log in the runner panel prints what the daemon said since it started: its startup block, release checks, updates, restarts.
The page cannot reach the daemon at all
The daemon listens on 127.0.0.1 only, so the page and the daemon must be on the same computer. A next dev server or another origin needs --allow-origin http://localhost:3000 when the daemon starts; sigscape.org is always allowed.
