Start the daemon
sigscape-daemon --workspace ~/sigscape --open
--workspace names the folder that holds uploads, runs and any data you put there; it is created if missing. --open opens your browser on sigscape.org already connected. The daemon prints what it started with:
sigscape-daemon 0.2.0 (x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu)
workspace /home/you/sigscape
tool musical uv ready
tool tau pixi provisions on first run
tool sigma2 uv ready
tool mutopia oci provisions on first run
studio https://sigscape.org/?runner=http://127.0.0.1:41235&token=…
local http://127.0.0.1:41235/?token=…
The studio line is the link that connects the page. The local line is the same studio served by the daemon itself, for use without the site.
How the page connects
The link carries the daemon's address and a token. The studio keeps both in your browser's storage, drops them from the address bar, and polls the daemon every few seconds. The status bar reads Runner running with the version, and every runner tool's Run button comes alive.
If no browser opened, or you want to connect another page: open the runner in the status bar, choose Install or connect…, and paste the printed link into the field.
Tokens
The daemon makes a new token each time it starts. A page that remembers an old one reads Runner refused the token: open the new link, or paste it. Nothing but the token authorizes a page, and the daemon only listens on 127.0.0.1.
Several pages
One daemon serves any number of tabs in the same browser. The studio talks to one daemon at a time; Disconnect in the runner panel forgets it, and pasting a link connects another. The daemon listens on 127.0.0.1 only, so page and daemon are always on the same computer.
The local address
The daemon also answers at the local address it prints. Today that is a plain status page and the HTTP API; serving the whole studio from the daemon, for machines that cannot reach sigscape.org, is planned.
